What Can You Do If You’ve Lost a Winning Lottery Ticket?

If you have accidentally lost a winning lottery ticket, do not panic!

If you think you have a winning lottery ticket, but it is lost, stolen or damaged, you must contact the National Lottery by 5 pm on the 30th day after the winning draw took place.

To help validate and process your claim quicker, you must complete a Lost, Stolen, Destroyed or Damaged Ticket Search Form, which is available to download on the National Lottery website. You must then email or send the form to the address stated on the form.

Lost Lottery Ticket Rules

There are certain rules that must be followed to be able to claim your win if you have a lost or damaged lottery ticket.

To claim your win, you must notify the National Lottery no later than 5pm on the 30th day after the draw. You must also complete a Lost, Stolen, Destroyed or Damaged Ticket Search Form and email or post it to the relevant address.

If you are unable to download or print out the form, you can send an email or letter to the National Lottery with the following details:

  • Name and address
  • Name and address of the shop the ticket was purchased at
  • The date and time you purchased the ticket
  • Name of lottery game (e.g. Lotto)
  • Number of lines chosen
  • Numbers selected or lucky dip
  • The draw date
  • Other details which may be helpful, such as how it got damaged or lost

If your ticket is damaged, you must also post the ticket with your letter or attach a photo to your email. It is necessary to include all of the above information to avoid any possible delays.

Once the National Lottery has received your claim for your lost or damaged ticket, they will validate or investigate your claim.
